Alhaji Mustapha Lamido, the district head of Bamaina in Birninkudu local government has been suspended by the Dutse emirate in Jigawa.
The district head who is the son of Sule Lamido, the former governor of Jigawa state is facing corruption charges alongside his father brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The district head was arrested alongside his brother, Aminu Lamido by the EFCC In November last year.
NAN reports that Alhaji Yunusa Garba, the secretary of the emirate council made the statement of the suspension available in Dutse, the state capital.
Garba said the suspension was in a response to the state government’s directive to suspend the district head because of his ongoing trial in court with the EFCC.
In order to keep the system informed, a copy of the letter was also sent to Birninkudu local government council.
Alhaji Abdulkadir Fanini, the secretary to the state government revealed that Lamido’s son was suspended along with the District Head of Kiyawa, Alhaji Aminu Wada, for the same offence which was due to the EFCC trial at the federal high court in Abuja.
He said the criminal nature of the trial was responsible for the suspension as it was stipulated in the in civil service rule that such persons should be suspended.
He insisted the suspension was in order and denied that it was politically motivated as speculated by some persons.
He said government delayed taking the important decision but it was very necessary to do so finally. (source NAIJ.COM)
